Carl Haase has created an edition of 25 prints that carefully trace the machine-cut contours of one our most mundane and disposable products: the plastic beverage lid. Beverage lids have patterns die-cut into them to make them functional and stackable, but Haase’s explorations trace these lines as if they are mandalas, studying and faithfully reproducing each contour like monk scribes reproduced the bible by hand, as if only the most careful and faithful reproduction will reveal the secrets within.
