ARTIST STATEMENT
By creating fantastic figures who act out miniature dramas of human struggle, I hope to present an opportunity to look humorously at our own actions from afar. This work depicts a world of never-ending exigency, where there is found both wonder and loneliness.

The series of drawings of trees emerged during my wife’s recent pregnancy and the birth of my first child. I became fascinated with the daily development of our son via cellular mitosis and assignment – how certain cells are predetermined to become lungs, eyes, etc. Further, these trees can also be seen as an exploration of arboreal models of history that can be applied to both art and family.
