I start with a dot.
The simplest, purest image possible. I physically
cut and paste and overlay, manipulating, printing over and enhancing the work to a point of trompe l'oeil where the distinction between printed and collaged fades.
With the ability of collage to create meaning from its own structural elements it disrupts the relationship between objects and external reality. With rhythms, textures, transparencies and imagery buried and disclosed a complexity and subtlety emerges that moves the
content far beyond its initial associations. This creates a vigorous internal balance that captures both inner fantasy and external space.

After attending New York University, Columbia University and Parsons School of Design, Mr. Wolyniec relocated to Portland ME where he currently lives and works.

The collage work of Henry Wolyniec will be exhibited in the Portland Museum of Art Bienniel exhibition in June 2007.
