ARTIST STATEMENT
I make drawings, paintings and sculptures that depict the natural world. My most recently body of work consists of a series of miniature dioramas constructed with animals made in clay, painted and preserved in landscapes under bell jars, in the tradition of Victorian curiosities. The animals depicted are either threatened, endangered or extinct and placed in environments that suggest unexpected narratives. By preserving these moments in time under glass, it’s my hope that viewers will reflect on the tenuous and fragile nature of life.
