Tiny

A NEW SHOW OPENING AT WHITNEY ART WORKS ON SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 10 AT 492 CONGRESS STREET
RECEPTION: 5-8 PM

"Tiny," featuring over 300 works of art from no less than 80 artists from Maine, Boston and New York, opens at Whitney Art Works in Portland on Saturday, November 10 with a public reception for artists from 5-8 p.m. The exhibition has been organized by Bruce Brown, curator emeritus of the Center for Maine Contemporary Art.

"Tiny" includes paintings, prints and drawings, sculpture and video as well as a soft sound installation by Nancy Davies of West Roxbury, MA and an interactive installation by Amy Stacy Curtis in which visitors are invited to transfer a handful of miniscule beads from one part of her work to another. "A major part of the fun in this show has been to challenge artists to make something that in several instances lies outside their usual work," Brown said. "I trust their creative instincts and expect to be as wonderfully surprised to see what they come up with as gallery viewers will be.
